Mark Schwartz has led blockchain development projects in verticals that include aviation, communications, fitness, entertainment, financial services, real estate, decentralized finance, agriculture and OEM. He has coached teams to create next-generation use cases in web3 with respect to governance, utility and token holder financial gain.
Mark also works closely with blockchain teams to ensure legal and regulatory compliance, as well as contract negotiations and drafting.
Technology dimension. Mark has extensive experience in working closely with engineering, design and development teams. Mark carefully guides these teams through all phases of the development process. He pays careful attention to precision in communicating with engineering teams, ensuring their unambiguous understanding of the product team’s requirements, use cases and user experiences. In this way, Mark compresses the timeline and dollar spend while landing in the very product that fits the market, as prescribed by the product team. Most significantly, Mark maintains the morale of the engineering team at sky high levels throughout the development process. Mark has done this with both web2 and web3 initiatives.
Nimowashi dimension. Mark brings to the social anthropology of an organization a disciplined, professional and sensitive method of communication, requirements gathering and cross-pollination among all departments (legal, finance and accounting, human resources, IT, marketing, sales, product design, production, the C suite and the Board). This process transforms teams and departments from misunderstandings, stumbling and frustration to harmony and focused execution. The result is powerful: Everyone in the organization comes to interpret the initiative the same way. No departments complain after implementation. The organization celebrates the success and is ready for the next initiative.
Background and experience. Mark began his professional journey in 1998 as a technology attorney with Shaw Pittman. His role was to lead Fortune 500 organizations in structuring complex technology relationships. He was responsible for the technical, financial, operational and legal dimensions of an initiative. Mark formed his own consulting practice in 2001 with a footprint that expanded into design, development and product market fit. He has led numerous technology initiatives for both Fortune 500 companies and startups. Clients include Toyota, BHPB, Kaiser Permanente, FFIC, Pacific Life, ZapTheory and Satoshi’s Second Coming 2039. Since April 2017, Mark has focused exclusively on blockchain and web3. The web3 revolution will be glorious, and we get to contribute a verse to its symphony.
Mark received a J.D. and M.A. from American University in 1995. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in both programs and was a member of American University Law Review. Mark graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Florida in 1991, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
